Philosophy

Decerto, in Latin meaning: To contend; Fight to the finish. Our guild name represents our common interest as Alliance to perform to the best of our ability and stand to the end with honor and pride. The guild was formed with an idea in mind, to band together a group of people who are motivated and determined to work together as a team accomplishing great things. While holding such great stature, we must also remember to enjoy ourselves and each others company. Decerto is a guild of the elite who in the same turn are also humble and easy going people.

Let us be proud, but not boastful. Let us be great, but modest.

History

Vek'nilash Tabard The legacy that is Decerto began on Vek'nilash US server in January 2006 and rose to the status of the utmost raiding guild. We had experience in every single instance available at the time, and even had the privilege of opening the Ahn'Qiraj gates with a game-wide record of being the guild who opened the gates within the quickest amount of time. The guild eventually was no more, but has used their experience and success to give them a helping hand in creating an even more successful guild.

For a complete history on Decerto on Vek'nilash, visit WoWWiki (on Archive.org).

New Tabard Ahara (Discover) and Evenflow (Wolfneve) gathered former Decerto members and eventually new recruits to form a new guild under the same great name. With the lessons of the past as our guide and the joy of reunited friendships, we formed again, as a guild, on Misha, one of the new PvE servers released with Burning Crusade on January 16, 2007.

Continuing our success, we eventually decided to give Wrath of the Lich King a go. This time with a more casual approach than our previous hardcore backgrounds. While we were going with more of a relaxed raiding experience, we did shoot for even higher standards of playmanship and felt this was the best way to be successful in the game, compared to lower quality but more hours.

Raid Information

  • We operate as if all of our members are mature adults. As such, we often give constructive criticism for times when players aren't performing up to our standards and we see an area in which a player could improve on. Please take this as us trying to better the entire guild instead of personally attacking you.

  • The only person that is designated to give direction during raids are the officers. All others are inquiries/suggestions. While we do generally like when members have suggestions to improve our strategies (so please be open about them!), remember that they are just suggestions and shouldn't be expected to be put in place at that time.

  • Chatting in Ventrilo and general chat during raids is very open! We are a pretty relaxed guild and like to have fun; feel free to talk/joke around about anything as long as it doesn't interfere with our current boss fight. While we are working on a boss, keep your input short and only regarding the current boss.

  • We use our time wisely. We try and raid our entire time schedule, but realize that there are some times where we must stop early if the night isn't going as well as expected. Do not suggest to end the raid! Our leaders will determine when the best time to stop raiding for the night will be.

  • Have complete trust in your officers and treat them with respect! They have this position for a reason. Please give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that they are running the raid (whether on farm or learning status) for the best possible success based on our past strategies and experiences that have worked for us. If you do not agree with something our raid leader discusses, then please talk to the guild master or that raid leader while remaining civil.

  • We will very rarely ever use anything other than Master Loot (it is not a guild trust issue, it just creates less loot problems in the long run). When we don't, please don't loot any epics until directed by an officer. As well, please do not open or activate items, or talk to any NPC in dungeons.

  • Decerto members are required to be active players. Anyone found to be inactive for more than 1 week without reason will be demoted or removed from the guild. Under obvious emergency circumstances this can be reversed after discussing such cases with guild leaders. If you must be inactive in the guild for more than two weeks, please be aware we may put you as a guest.

  • While it is common sense, we use ready checks before we pull bosses. If you are not ready, please click no. Being click happy and always pressing yes and then telling us right before we are about to pull that you are missing a buff is something that creates an unnecessary time penalty.

  • If you mess up during a raid, please call it out as soon as possible. Unless it is an obvious fix, it is not suggested you fix it yourself as there may be an alternative strategy that would work better. We do not mind if you make mistakes as long as you don't try to hide it and can learn from it! Help us be an even more successful guild by sharing this vital information.

Miscellaneous Information

Loot System
Decerto uses a successful loot council system. Details of it may be released to any perspective recruit.
Ventrilo
Ventrilo is used for every raid. If you cannot handle the occasional swear word or dirty joke, please do not apply; we treat our members like adults.

Ventrilo may be used by non-guild members if permission has been granted by a guild master with some restrictions. The guest(s) may be removed from the server without question if they become a problem. This includes talking in the channel while we are raiding.
